Nature abhors a vacuum_descent

Urban legends abound in every corner of the globe ranging from the vicious drop bears of Australia to Chupacabras of South America and the CHUDs in every major city throughout the world. They simultaneously scare and tantalise the more basic instincts of the human race without actually placing the story listener in actual danger.

Some might say they provide a break from reality. Whilst this genre is not everyone’s cup of tea, it does fuel a large section of story tellers throughout the world. Stephen King, Dean R Koontz and George A. Romero have all impacted on modern culture through the thriller / horror genre.

After recently completing a submission for the Australian Horror Writers Association, I gained inspiration to undertake further efforts in the thriller / horror genre. Within a few days, Nature abhors a vacuum was birthed.

Bashing this baby out, I couldn’t contain myself to complete the whole piece before going to press. Hence, I have opted to serialize the 4 part series with a compilation a few weeks after completion of part 4.

As part of my author’s journey back into creativity, it has provided a breath of fresh air as Autonomous Chaos enters its final chapters of development.

Switching gears back to the numerous urban legends and beasts of the under city, I always get a chuckle out of the elusive Australian Drop Bear and CHUDs always make me crap my pants.

    My favorite urban legend is the alleged different sense of rotation of the vortex in a sink on northern and southern hemisphere due to Coriolis force – in particular as ‘demonstrated’ to tourists near the equator. While the explanation as such is correct, the size of the force is much too small to make a difference – you would need to do the experiment in a carefully controlled laboratory.
